Christian Wessels is a poet and poetry critic.

He received his PhD from the University of Rochester, where he wrote a dissertation on didacticism in contemporary poetry, advised by James Longenbach and Jennifer Grotz. He received his MFA from Boston University.

He is a Contributing Writer for Cleveland Review of Books. For two years, he wrote short critical essays for the website of Ploughshares.

He splits his time between New York and the Black Forest with his wife, media scholar Tanja Beljanski, and their daughter.
